2009 Swamp Ranger
5k/10k Trail Run Location: The run is held on Camp Rudder (U.S. Army Ranger Camp). Directions to the Ranger Camp: Ranger Camp Road is 1.6 miles west of the traffic light at Lewis Turner Blvd., and Rte. 85. Look for the Brown Ranger Camp signs and turn North onto Ranger Camp Road. Proceed approximately 9 miles until you see another Brown sign and a 4 way stop. Follow the Brown sign and turn left. Proceed along that road for approximately 5 miles until you reach another Brown sign and a 3 way stop. Follow the Brown sign and turn right. Proceed approximately 3 miles until you reach the entrance to Camp James Rudder. Go straight thru the gate, past the Water tower. Take the next left after the Water tower and park in the open field immediately to your right. Race registration and the start/finish lines will be across the street from the parking area adjacent to the swimming pool and the Camp Gym. Course: The courses are 5k and 10k loops respectively that take you through the trails around Camp James Rudder. The course surface is a mix of hard packed sand, grass, loose sand, and pavement. Mile markers will be posted at every mile mark. The 5k route will have one water point at the 1.5 mile mark. The 10k water points will be at the 2, 4, and 5 mile marks. Trail shoes are recommended.
